* "Las Canteras Beach", a few steps from the flat, has a beach promenade. If you take the right side you can go to another beach, "El Confital". I think its a beautiful walk and "El Confital" is a nature reserve. In this side of the beach promenade there is a restaurant to eat fresh fish: Amigo Camilo. I like it because its not expensive and has good fresh fish. You can taste "cherne" (a kind of fish) and "gofio escaldado", a typical canarian dish (in my point of view, this restaurant serves one of the most delicious "gofio escaldado" of the island). Another seafood restaurant close to the apartment is "La Marinera". On the other side of the beach, there is array of tempting bars with patio along the seafront promenade until you reach the auditorium area.
In "Las Canteras" you can play sports like surfing, kayak, paddle surfing, snorkeling, diving... If you want more information about this just let me know and I can recommend you.
If you like snorkeling you can go to “La Barra”: peculiar rock formation just metres from Las Canteras shore. The best place to reach La Barra is “Playa Chica”, near to “Telepizza” on the beach promenade.
* If you like yoga, "power yoga" teaches yoga classes on the beach (5€/class)

* If you like museums there is one near the apartment, in "El Castillo de la Luz", about Martin Chirino, a Canary sculptor.

* Restaurants near the flat:
-Amigo Camilo
-La Marinera
-Ay Carmela (in the Mercado del Puerto) mexican food
-Restaurante LA 66: good burgers
-La Esquinita Latina: cuban food
-Camino al Jamonal: beer/wine + serrano ham tapas
-Bar Piscolabis Castillo de la Luz: to breakfast or drink something near Castillo de la Luz, in a beautiful park

* Other restaurants around Las Canteras beach:
-Basal grill and beach: to lunch or dinner -Bodega extremeña: to lunch or dinner, serrano ham, chorizo… (spanish food)
-Wasabi & kimchi: japanese food
-La Bikina Cantina: to lunch or dinner, good quality reasonable Price -Restaurante Monte Líbano: lebanese food
-Bosmediano: squid baguettes
-The Block café: coffes, beers..
-Mombai Sunset Bar: coffes, beers..
-Hotel Reina Isabel: terraza on the top floor

* Restaurants around Santa Catalina Park:
-Café La Alemana: nice place to drink coffee, beers,…
-Restaurante Casa Fataga
-Hotel Bed & Chic: terraza on the top floor
-La Otra Punta: to lunch or dinner

* The other area of the city that you have to visit is "Vegueta", where is the old town with the cathedral. Maybe you can go by bike or bus (take the n1 bus) and stop in "San Telmo Park". Next to the park is "Triana", a very central pedestrian street lined with all kinds of shops, bars and restaurants. At the end of the Triana is Vegueta.

* Restaurants around Vegueta/Triana:
-Dara feeling good: to lunch or dinner
-El Palillo: to lunch or dinner
-Guirlache: great ice cream and cakes
-Allende Parrilla: to lunch or dinner
-Restaurante Bodegón Las Lagunetas
-La Azotea de Benito: cocktail bar with beautiful views
-Tasca el Canalla: terraced brewery
-Te lo Dije Pérez: terraced brewery
-El Herreño: if you want to taste "papas arrugás con mojo, they serve typical Canarian food
- La champiñonería: if you like mushrooms (they serve another food too!)

* Other places to visit in the city:
-San Cristobal: fishing district. I like to go by bike. Yo can eat in “Los Botes” (canarian food and fresh food). “La Laja” beach is near San Cristobal and you can go by bike too.
-Muelle deportivo: to go for a short walk. Allende Muelle: to lunch or dinner Sailors bay: have a beer or snack (they serve italian food too and its fairly good)
*To go out far into the night
-“Ruta Playa Viva”: different concerts starting in the afternoon in different bars on weekends (you need to search on the net the Schedule): New York Taxi Bar Los Nidillos – Terraza La Rosa – Tiramisú Funky Bar – Mumbai Sunset – Sala Nasdaq …
-La Guarida del Blues
-Mojo Club
-El Bote: they serve vegetarian burgers. Its a bit old but its ok to have a few beers

You are two weeks in the flat so I think you can see more places than the city. Outside the city:
- "Maspalomas beach" (in the south of the island with sand dunes). If you like walking, you can walk from Maspalomas to "Playa del Inglés" (or vice-versa) by the shore of the beach. I dont like so much "Playa del Inglés" because is more touristy than "Maspalomas", but the walk on the beach is beautiful if the day is mild.
- Another place in the south of the island that I like so much is "Puerto de Mogan". It’s an old fisherman's quarter, nowadays a cosy place, not too big, with a small, sheltered beach and a good atmosphere.
** In the south of the island there are several SPA that are very good, maybe you can search voechers in the net (letsbonus or groupon) if you want to relax one day Biggrin I like these:
* Corallium Spa Costa Meloneras
* Corallium Thalasso Villa del Conde
* Thalasso Gloria Amadores

- "Tejeda": a very nice village at the centre of the island, with the original rock formation "Roque Nublo". You can walk up the mountain, it's a beautiful walk and if there aren´t clouds, you have a breathtaking view. The fire has already stopoed!

- "Arucas": with a very beautiful old town and a majestic cathedral (in fact it is a church) that is distinguished by its neogothic style; made in Arucas stonework. In Arucas there is the Rum factory "Arehucas": Arehucas distilleries is the largest and oldest factory and rum winery in Europe. But I have never gone to the factory, so I can not tell you if it's worth.

- If you go by car, you can go first to "Arucas" and then to "Teror" which is right at the centre of the island and is reached via steep winding roads. I like so much "Teror village" because there are typical buildings, balconies and rural island life. Every Sunday, in the historic centre there is a street market where you can buy delicious canary cheeses and other products of the island.

- "Barranco de Guayadeque" (Guayadeque Ravine): a very charming place where under the ravine’s palm groves, you may find large traces of prints bringing us back to the island’s inhabitants from olden times. In "Guayadeque" there are restaurants in natural caves where you can eat typical Canarian food.

- This ravine is in the municipality of "Agüimes", which old town is great too.

** If you are a star gazing enthusiast, there is an observatory in the municipality of "Agüimes" (you need a car to get there): "Observatorio de Temisas". Every Friday and Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. there is an astronomical observation session conducted by an astronomer (in spanish). On Sundays, from 11H to 13H, they offer sessions of solar observation. (Each guided tour cost 5 euros per person)

- "Gáldar": in the north of the island where there is a archaeological museum "Cueva Pintada" (archaeological site). The "Cueva Pintada" is a cave carved by ancient canaries.
- If you go by car, the same day that you go to "Gáldar" you can also go to "Agaete", a nice fishing village. And next to the village there is the "Valle de Agaete", where you can visit the coffee plantations and taste this kind coffee with appellation of origin (I think is not cheap but I have a friend who worked there as a tour guide and was delighted)
- "Tamadaba" (in Agaete): is a protected space which contains the biggest pine area on the island of Gran Canaria. Very beautiful views!

- "Caldera de Bandama": is a volcanic crater of great dimensions and steep walls, located in the northeast of the island.

Wszystko przebiega sprawnie aż do wejścia do samolotu.

 W samolocie dość niewyraźnym angielskim dostajemy informacje, że z powodu strajków (chyba we Francji ???)  samolot wystartuje z opóźnieniem. Pora taka, że pozostaje nicinnego jak drzemać.

W końcu startujemy. Ostatnie widoczki…
